Today is Sci-Hub anniversary the project is 10 years old!

I'm going to publish 2,337,229 new articles to celebrate the date. They will be available on the website in a few hours (how about the lawsuit in India you may ask: our lawyers say that restriction is expired already)

This is the problem when optimists predict the future: Arthur C. Clarke got everything right in 1976, except how horrible it would all be.

Perfect example of how obtuse and sectarian reviewers can be. Still true today, unfortunately.

This is a great paper, that I cite regularly. Despite the 1000th citation mark, and being 17 years old, I still think many do not grasp its significance.

According to GS, our 2004 PRE paper "Modularity from fluctuations in random graphs and complex networks" with @amaral@twitter.com is about to get its 1000th citation. Little thread with some of the comments we got from reviewers in @PhysRevLett@twitter.com, leading to rejectionπŸ‘‡πŸ½ journals.aps.org/pre/abstract/

Don't do this. Don't spread the word to your followers, don't let them know that sci-hub.ru works, please.

It's an illegal way to share the human knowledge - funded w/ tax payers money - with the humans, don't support it.

To the poor souls still doing visual network analysis based on 2D spring-block embedding (a.k.a. "ridiculograms"): please read this paper very carefully, and despair!

It turns out you can't squeeze a high-dimensional structure in 2D without arbitrary distortions. Shock and horror.

Important, and constructive work. But I wish it was not needed in the first place!

It's time to stop making t-SNE & UMAP plots. In a new preprint w/ Tara Chari we show that while they display some correlation with the underlying high-dimension data, they don't preserve local or global structure & are misleading. They're also arbitrary.🧡biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/20
